Embracing Change: Navigating the Journey Together

Welcome!

I’ve long wanted to write and share my perspective on various topics that I find relevant.  What stopped me from doing so up until now was my mindset.  I had a fixed mindset that blocked me from writing.  This fixed mindset held me hostage with limiting beliefs like, “who will want to hear what I have to say”, “what if what i want to say is not appealing to readers”, “what if my perspective is criticized”, etc.

The dilemma of holding this fixed mindset/belief was butting up against my desire to write and share my thoughts.  The desire was strong and so I examined what was truly at play.  I realized after several months - I won’t say how many - of getting curious  about what was  truly holding me back.  What I learned was one, the “what ifs” might never disappear and two, my wanting to write was not solely attached to readers.  Choosing to write for the pure sake of writing offers the opportunity to lean into my creative wealth.  So here I go leaning into my growth mindset!

When we think of the word change, many things potentially come to mind; altering, making different, modifying, transforming.  No matter what word we choose, it can be a scary thing to think about change.  Change can feel or sound disruptive; disruptive to the status quo.  If one is comfortable with the status quo - state of surviving - then change isn't necessary.  However, if we are tired of the status quo then modification(s) is required.  Making the choice to alter our present existence moves us toward a transformational, thriving life!

In a world that is constantly evolving, where change is the only constant,  we get to choose how we show up for ourselves.  In the fast-paced landscape of today's world, adaptability is key. Whether it be in our personal lives, professional endeavors, or societal dynamics, the ability to embrace change and thrive amidst ambiguity is a worthy skill. With a view to accepting a growth mindset that change is necessary,  we can begin to equip ourselves with the tools necessary to navigate the ever-shifting currents of life.  We get to transcend the boundaries of conventional thinking and dive into the depths of personal development. My hope for this community is that we honor our  diverse perspectives while being united by a shared passion for learning and a curiosity that knows no bounds.

Let us embark on a journey of self-discovery and collective exploration. Together, we will uncover hidden gems of wisdom, perspective shifts, insightful reflections, and hopefully new awarenesses about ourselves that will aid us in cultivating a mindset of resilience, purpose and joy in the face of uncertainty.

Our journey is not just about weathering challenges and obstacles; it's also about savoring the moments of joy (whether it be bountiful joy or micro joys), celebrating our wins, fostering connections, discovering our inner creative genius and tapping into our own unique magic wands (stay tuned for the magic wand edition). Among the ups and downs of life, we can find and build community in shared experiences and inspiration in the stories of those who have dared to dream and defy the status quo.

Here’s a quote from a ted talk given by Maya Shankar, a cognitive neuroscientist with degrees from Yale University and the University of Oxford, “We become different people on the other side of change. What we’re capable of, what we value and how we define ourselves, these things can all shift,” she said. “And if we can learn to pay close attention to these internal shifts, we may just find that rather than limiting us, change can actually expand us.”

So, whether you're a seasoned traveler on the path of self-improvement or a curious soul taking your first steps into the unknown, know that you are welcomed here.  Together, let us embrace a growth mindset, as we embrace change and journey towards a brighter, more fulfilling, thriving life.
